Harrison Michael, "Mickey", F/L, C20089, Typhoon Pilot and Sqn Adjutant. Home in Agincourt, Ontario; enlisted in Toronto 14 August 1940. Posting from RCAF Skip-on-Swale to 439 Sqn 24 Apr 1944 - 30 June 1945. Mention in Despatches - No.61 Base (AFRO gives unit only as "Overseas") - Award effective 8 June 1944 as per London Gazette of that date and AFRO 1729/44 dated 11 August 1944. No citation in AFRO. DHist file 181.009 D.2993 (National Archives RG.24 Volume 20634) has recommendation for an MBE (Member British Empire)  dated 18 January 1944 when he was Assistant Base Adjutant. Posted to 402 Sqn.

Hays W.W. A graduate of  No. 11 S.F.T.S. at Yorkton with the rank of Sgt. He was subsequently promoted to Pilot Officer on the 17 Oct 1941 posted to the School of Army Co-operation which was reopened at Rockcliffe, Ontario on the 22 October 1941 and  which was the  fore-runner of 123 and later 439 Sqn. At the end of November 1942 left for the "Y" Depot (Halifax NS) , a holding unit for personnel posted overseas.

Hiltz R.A. , F/O , J37855 , Pilot, 28 Sep 1944 - 21 Nov 1944. Son of Cecil B. and Gladys Gwendolyn Hiltz, of Kentville, Nova Scotia, Canada. Killed at the age of 20 on a bombing mission in Germany. F/O Hiltz had completed 27 operational sorties as of this date.

Hogg J.E. ,  (DFC ), Jimmy, S/L, J21119, Pilot, 1943 - 27 Nov 1944, Born 1916, South Shields, County Durham. Family moved to Canada when he was three. Home in Ottawa; educated Percy Street School and Glebe Collegiate. Worked for Canadian Car and Foundry. Formerly in the Royal Canadian Artillery. Enlisted in RCAF, 5 April 1939 as groundcrew; commissioned November 1942. Trained at No.3 ITS (graduated 24 April 1942), No.17 EFTS (graduated 31 July 1942), and No.2 SFTS (graduated 20 November 1942 at top of the class). Retained in Canada at Debert, NS with 123 Sqn until 14 Dec 1943 when it became 439 Sqn and was shipped overseas. Tour Expired with 439 Sqn. Promoted to A/S/L and posted to 438 Sqn as Commanding Officer. Killed in flying accident, 23 March 1945 at 14 APC, Warmwell, (Typhoon MP138). Brother, Sergeant W.G. Hogg served with RCE. DFC recommended when he had flown 92 sorties (93 operational hours) and became effective 13 January 1945.

Honour, R.C.D. Flight Sergeant 123 Squadron who first joined the unit as an LAC at the time of its formation in 1941. His decided flair for technical improvements won recognition in the award of the British Empire Medal in the New Year's honours list for 1944. He was  the NCO (Non Commissioned Officer) i/c  (in charge of) Armament and was noted for many technical achievements in connection with 123 Squadron. More info.
