Barton P.S. (Paul) F/O, Pilot with 123 Sqn circa October 1943 and 439 Sqn until  March 1944 when he  left the unit on posting to the R.C.A.F. "R" Depot at Warrington.

Trained at No.3 ITS (graduated 25 September 1941), No.21 EFTS (graduated 21 November 1941) and No.9 SFTS (graduated 10 April 1942). Crashed Kittyhawk ET866 of No.132 Squadron at Armstrong, Ontario, 5 June 1942. Twin bother William also flew Typhoons with No.438 Squadron. DFC Award presented at Stamford Centre, Ontario, 7 August 1949.

Belford E.  Ground crew first mentioned  as a Sgt belonging to the newly designated 123 Squadron circa 24 Feb 1943.

Bédard R F/O Ray 32496 F-86 Sabre Pilot. The son of Paul Emile Bédard and  Marguerite Moore, and the husband of  the former Mizpah Jane Wood, F/O Joseph Jean Raymond Bédard (age 25) was a native of  (Malton) Ottawa, Ontario. Killed when his Canadian F-86 Mark II Sabre Serial Number 19193 crashed during a training exercise on the 23 June, 1953 near Boston, in the county of Lincolnshire, England.

Bricker, Calvin David,  "Cal", Squadron Leader , 26072 (or C1449) , Born in Regina; home in Grenfell, Saskatchewan; enlisted there 2 January 1940. Instructed in Canada before going overseas. Awarded DFC 23 March 1945 for services with 430 Squadron. Award presented 11 January 1948Attached to USAF, January 1950; first Canadian to fly the Atlantic in a jet (F-84, July 1950, as part of USAF exchange duties). Awarded Queen's Coronation Medal, 23 October 1953 while a Squadron Leader at Station Macdonald.  Appointed Commanding Officer 439 Squadron from Sept 1951 - 8 July 1953.

Brock J.S. Jack, F/O, J36551 , Typhoon Pilot, 27 Mar 1945 - 20 July 1945, Posted to 3 PRC Bournemouth. Records indicate that he had 8 operational sorties totalling 8:40 operational hours with 439, and a grand total of 594:40 flying hours overall.

Brown J.A., F/O, J28760, Pilot, 23 May 1944 - ???? Born Berwyn Alberta. On the 6 Nov 1944 on a morning show J.28760 F/O J.A. Brown, one of our old timers failed to return. It is presumed that he had gone in onto the target a little too low and that he got a blast from his own bombs as he was pulling up. The aircraft was streaming glycol, but F/O Brown set a southerly course for Allied territory, reaching Deventer when flak started to come up. F/O  Brown took to the silk and shortly after the flak was intensified. We do hope he landed safely. This pilot has done 77 operational sorties totalling 80:25 operational hours and giving him a grand total of 703:05 flying hours. It was subsequently learned that he was captured as a POW and was interned at Stalag Luft 3 at Sagan. Number  8662.
 

Brown R.A. Ray, F/O, J21136, Pilot, 23 Feb 1944 - ???? Posted  in from 182 Sqn. On the 23 June 44 F/O Ray Brown had engine trouble on his return journey from a reccee over France and baled out south of the Isle of Wight. The fellows feel that he wasn't in the sea long enough even to get his feet soaked. He was taken to Calshot where he spent the night and was equipped with part of a zoot suit.  Again on the 18th of August 1944 while on his second sortie of the day F/O R.A. Brown suffered a shrapnel wound in his leg and some damage to his aircraft (MN375). Ray landed at Carpiquet and has now been invalided to hospital in England (50 MFH) and will be out of action for about a month.

Brown F/O Sabre Pilot Circa 1958 -

Brown J.T. P/O Pilot  with 123 Squadron during 1942 or early 1943 . In March 1943 he was dispatched westward to Boundary Bay, British Columbia, where a new Army Co-operation Squadron (No. 163) was being formed.

Brunk Allen ground crew member of 439 from 1988 - 1991 . Original posting was  1 CAG later 1 AMS as of 24 May 84, spent time in GSE attached to the Sqn. for Dispersals to Lahr during Snowballs. Was transferred to the Sqn in '88.  Retired from the Forces as of July of 91 and have been working in the Private Sector in Germany in A/C and non A/C related fields.
 

Buffet Harold Gordon Sabre maintainer stationed with 439 Squadron at Marville France in the late 50's or very early 60's. Deceased 1993

Burgess Charles Lebert. , "Chuck", A/S/L, J21143, . Born in 1920 in Fredericton, New Brunswick; home there. Enlisted in Saint John, New Brunswick, 28 July 1939; commissioned November 1942. Trained at No.3 ITS (graduated 24 April 1942), No.17 EFTS (graduated 31 July 1942), and No.2 SFTS (graduated 20 November 1942). Pilot, with 123 Squadron circa May 1943 and 439 Sqn to  26 Nov 44, Tour expired. Posted to  56 OTU .  Recommended when he had flown 91 sorties (93 operational hours). DFC effective 13 January 1945 . Postwar service included No.413 Squadron at Rockcliffe, Ontario (now in Greenwood, NS)

Burton William Donald , "Don", F/L, J18959, Pilot,  Born in 1921, Brantford, Ontario; home there. Enlisted in Hamilton, 5 June 1941, commissioned 1943. Trained at No.1 ITS (graduated 13 September 1941), No.10 EFTS (graduated 7 November 1941) and No.6 SFTS (graduated 27 February 1942). Posted from  174 Sqn  he was with 439 Sqn from 24 Feb 1944 - 17 Oct 1944 .Tour Expired after 123 Operational Sorties totalling 127:30 operational hours.  Awarded DFC effective 18 December 1944. Award presented 14 June 1949.
