Well, as promised, here I sit,
the morning after, with my Gyros slightly askew, trying to summarize in a
few lines, probably the most significant non operational events ever for 439
Squadron and probably the Canadian Airforce - The retiring of the old
Squadron Standard, the consecration of a new Standard, and the awarding of a
new Battle Honour for the Gulf & Kuwait War. Since this was new ground
and had never been done before, the Directorate of History told us that
whatever the format of the ceremony, 439 Tiger Squadron would not only be
creating history, but also establishing precedents for any future endeavor
of this type.
