This Day In History

Summary of Events for  No. 439 (CAN) Squadron

as recorded in the  439 Squadron Operations Record Book

for

09 April 1944

 R.C.A.F. Funtingten, Essex, England

F/O Rassenti returned off leave to find himself posted away from us. "Nick" hurriedly packed up so he could leave with the other four fellows. It was hard to say "Au Revoir" but it was carried out at last in the afternoon. A number of our pilots had their first Auster flip. It is a dinky little job, but with bags of speed that is hard to kill off for a landing. Quite a treat to fly it! This evening the Airfield Officers had a party with many beautiful damsels attending - a good time was had by all.
