Summary of Events for  No. 439 (CAN) Squadron 

as recorded in the  439 Squadron Operations Record Book

for

24 March 1944

 R.A.F. Station Hurn, Bournemouth, England

All pilots attended the funeral service of F/L N.E. Pollock this morning. Lined up in front of Station Cinema at 1015 hrs. Coffin put on truck & taken to north Bournemouth Cemetery. Funeral party lead by F/O Hewson formed up outside & slow marched to the grave. Norval was an exceptionally good flyer, and will be missed by all. 

A Squadron formation led by P/O Burton was carried out in Hurricanes this afternoon & proved to be very successful. The Winco came down and complimented us on it., especially the L.L. form-up. Five pilots went into Bournemouth to carry out Dinghy drill. F/O Ross returned this afternoon from Ayr where he attended "Mac's" funeral. S/L Norsworthy returned from Court of Enquiry at Turnhouse this evening.
