Summary of Events for  No. 439 (CAN) Squadron

as recorded in the  439 Squadron Operations Record Book

for

13 March 1944

 R.A.F. Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland

This morning P/O Paul Barton gave all the pilots a lecture on the K-Type Dinghy. We took the dinghy out of the pack, inflated it, put up the sail & ate all the rations. Six of the pilots already had practice in getting into the dinghy in water, but the rest of the pilots haven't had that experience over here yet.

We had 3 Typhoons flying this morning, and 4 this afternoon. All pilots left Dispersal at 1600 hrs. to finish up their packing. Baggage was picked up at the sites at 1800 hrs. Eight of the pilots spent this afternoon learning how to carry out a D.I. on the airframe & engine of Typhoons.
