Summary of Events for  No. 439 (CAN) Squadron

as recorded in the  439 Squadron Operations Record Book

for

10 March 1944

 R.A.F. Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland

S/L Norsworthy, our new O.C. arrived this morning at Dispersal. He spoke to all the pilots in the Flight room, and I know we are all more than glad that he is our O.C. He just returned from Canada on a month's leave.

S/L Norsworthy first came to England in June 1941. On finishing his O.T.U., he was posted to No. *3 Squadron, a night fighter squadron of Bostons and Mosquitoes. After finishing one tour, he was transferred to No. 3 Squadron on Typhoons. He had 3 months rest during the summer of '43. The G/C spoke very highly of him & we all realize we are very fortunate in having S/L Norsworthy as our C.O.
