Summary of Events for  No. 439 (CAN) Squadron

as recorded in the  439 Squadron Operations Record Book

for

04 March 1944

 R.A.F. Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland

F/O R.J. Allen arrived back today from Hospital. He will be leaving Monday on three week's sick leave. Ernie had been posted from the Squadron to 143 Airfield and he doesn't have any idea what will happen to him when he gets back off leave. He has been with the Squadron since Nov. 1942, and all the pilots hate to see him go. F/O Ross returned from B.A.T. course at Wittering, getting a total of 4 hours link, and 10 hours instruction in Oxford aircraft.

The Squadron carried out its first night flying this evening in Hurricanes. We flew from 2005 hrs. to 2315 hrs. with 3 flights of 6, 6 & 4. All the pilots found it very easy & enjoyed their hour very much.
