Summary of Events for  No. 439 (CAN) Squadron 

as recorded in the  439 Squadron Operations Record Book

for

02 February 1944

 R.A.F. Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland

Flight Lieutenant T.A. Dadson (J14313) and Flying Officer P.J. Elfner (J22281) chosen to attend Exercises "Crown" and "Anchor" at Moray firth. 

This afternoon F/L McAvity, Saville, Pollock and Dadson and F/O Scharff and MacDonald got away solo in the Typhoon. They are the first of our pilots to be checked out, and the rest of the pilots are waiting anxiously. S/L Smith, F/O Dixon, Allen and Smith returned by air from Acklington, even though only eight rockets were fired by each pilot, they got a very good idea in the use of R.P. ( Rocket Projectiles).
