This Day In History

Summary of Events for  No. 439 (CAN) Squadron

as recorded in the  439 Squadron Operations Record Book

for

31 October 1944

 B-78 Holland

The haze is so thick today you can chip it with a hatchet and as a result, operations are scrubbed until tomorrow morning. The airmen have now finished with the construction of their small wooden huts and have abandoned their tents which are being struck and packed away. The dispersal bears resemblance to a small colony. the pilots tent is likened unto a miniature foundry with its two huge smoke stacks. The perimeter track by our dispersal has been completed and the craters filled in. All in all it has been a fairly interesting month for us although the consistent inclemency impeded operations, our primary objective to no little extent.
