Summary of Events for  No. 439 (CAN) Squadron 

as recorded in the  439 Squadron Operations Record Book

for

19 April 1944

 R.C.A.F. Funtingten, Essex, England

F/O Burton & F/O Swingler left by transport for Redhill to pick up two new Typhoons. We were busy all morning, packing & taking down tents. F/O Laycock left at 1400 hrs. by truck for R.A.F. Hurn, with our Camp Kits & tents. F/O's Johns & Ross flew to Odiham in "Buster" to pick up the Wince's Auster & also to take up mail to Andy Clarke. The 6 Typhoons flown by S/L Norsworthy, P/O Bernhart & F/O's Moen, Hewson, Burgess & Porritt, departed at 1740 hrs. & arrived Hurn 1805 hrs. F/O Thomas flew Hurricane "Z" down & arrived 10 mins. after the Typhoons. We immediately got to work pitching out tents, and were no sooner done, when it started to rain.
